MDR 808: ACE: Neurosurgery
Credits 4The neurosurgery service covers virtually the entire gamut of modern neurosurgical practice. The clinical service is divided into teams that focus primarily on specific subspecialty areas. The JMH spine team cares for patients with tumors, trauma, degenerative disease, and other disorders. The JMH general cranial team deals with cerebrovascular disease, tumors, epilepsy, movement disorders, and other pathology. A separate team cares for patients with head injuries. The pediatric division cares for patients at both Jackson Memorial Hospital and Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. A separate team cares for a busy neurosurgical service at UHealth Tower that includes both cranial and spinal patients. The JMH Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit is one of the largest such facilities in the world and is an important center of the department’s clinical activities.
