The objective is for the student to get exposure to common antepartum complications in the inpatient and
outpatient setting involving the mother and/or the fetus and gain experience/knowledge in the diagnostic and
therapeutic approaches for various obstetrical scenarios through participating in direct patient care. Students will
enhance interpersonal skills and professional conduct in the pregnant person/patient encounter setting. After
completing the rotation, students should be able to evaluate and work up common obstetrical complications that
happen to antepartum, intrapartum, or postpartum and have insights into the management of complicated
obstetrical patients. Consider opportunities for pre- or inter-conception counseling.
