MDR 801: Pediatric Adolescent Gynecology

Course Description

The pediatric and adolescent gynecology elective provides experience in the evaluation and management 
of young patients presenting for gynecologic care. Students will gain experience in taking a detailed gyn and 
psychosocial history in pediatric adolescent patients, evaluating and managing menstrual and endocrine 
disorders, chronic pelvic pain, and differences of sexual differentiation. Provision of contraception for adolescents 
and transgender care will be covered. A trauma informed approach to care will be emphasized. Students will 
participate in surgical treatment of endometriosis and ovarian cysts among pediatric and adolescent patients.
