Course Description
The ambulatory block rotation serves to enhance the medical student’s knowledge and skills in caring for the
ambulatory medical patient. Students will primarily be seeing patients which are new to the outpatient clinic,
addressing preventive screening as well as care of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension,
cardiomyopathy, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. In addition, they will be exposed to patients with the following characteristics:
-Ambulatory patients with acute complaints
-Gender-specific medical care
-Patients recently discharged from the inpatient setting or from the emergency room
-Patients being evaluated for surgery
-Patients presenting for routine GYN care.
